Inlays - Porcelain

Get the Flash Player to see this player.

Porcelain inlays and onlays are typically used for the chewing teeth at the back of the mouth to provide a natural looking fix for any broken or decayed teeth.

A porcelain inlay sits within the confines of your tooth, whereas a porcelain onlay will cover the entire surface of the tooth. The inlays are made from either porcelain or a plastic resin.

The process of fitting an inlay involves removing any existing fillings or any decaying areas of the tooth and thoroughly cleaning the area. Your dentist will then take an impression of the tooth, which will be sent to a dental technician to prepare an inlay or an only for the area. Because the inlay needs to be custom made, two visits are needed to complete the treatment.
