What are bridges made of?

Dental bridges are typically made using  precious metal, although occasionally another non-precious metal may be used in the base of the bridge to provide additional strength. If the bridge is visible, porcelain will be added to the base.

Are bridges expensive?

A dental bridge will typically last for a number of years, so while there may be an initial cost it can be a wise long term investment. Not only will a bridge improve the appearance of your smile, it can also improve your bite. A bridge involved a lot of skilled work from both the dentist and the technician, but the result can make a massive difference.

How do I look after my bridge?

To help your bridge to stay in the best possible condition, it must be cleaned every day. This will prevent any issues like gum disease and bad breath. Once the bridge has been fitted your dental hygienist will explain the process of cleaning the bridge with a bridge needle or a special floss as a standard toothbrush won't be able to clean the area fully.
